A Beaten World (Love Nation Day 17)

“But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – Jesus – John 16:33b

Sometimes Jesus’ love comes to us through simple encouragement. We know why He came. We know He came to love us through the sacrifice of His own life. But sometimes, even while we know we’ve been saved, we still need Him. A word of encouragement. A word of care. His words of love. We live in a world of sin. A world where satan would love for you to die pointlessly. That’s the hard but honest truth. Sometimes we feel that truth more than others. And I don’t know what to say about it exactly. Maybe there’s nothing to say. Except that Jesus has overcome the world. It doesn’t always feel that way. But then in those times, where are we looking? Are we looking towards Jesus? Are we realizing His love? Today I encourage you to read John 17. The entire chapter. It’s often referred to as “The High Priestly Prayer.” It’s a prayer for us, to God, from Christ Himself. We know Christ died for us, but sometimes it’s good to know that He prayed for us too. And that’s an act of love too. To pray for one another. I’ve said this many many times, but no matter what’s going on, no matter what you’re going through, in those roughest times when the world looks bleak, Jesus said this, “Take heart; I have overcome the world.”

You are loved,
Jake
