“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” – Jesus – John 15:12-13
What can a person say about this? Is there something we can add to Christ’s words to somehow make them more affective? No. Of course not. So I won’t try. Instead, I want to implore us to search out the words of Christ. To listen to Him. To hear what He has to say; what He has said to us.
Do we appreciate Him? Do we see His love for us? Do we love Him? His love is greater. His love is for us. Do you know what He said after this? He said, “You are my friends if you do what I command you.” – John 15:14 Is that an ultimatum? Absolutely. But what did He command? That we love each other. His ultimatum is one of love. Can we follow it? Can we be inspired by it? The questions remain I know. Why? Why should we love one another? What’s in it for us… Heaven? But then aren’t we working our way towards the reward? But then aren’t we just doing it for us? And is it really love when it’s just for us? Here’s what Jesus said…
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” – John 15:10-11
Want full joy? Love.
Jesus Loves You,
